'82 to '86 car..will it fit?

Does anyone know if there's any differences between the old and new type 944 engines? I've just bought an '82 "unfinished project" which has a rebuilt engine and new clutch+++...would it fit straight into my '86? Is there any differences between old and new type wiring or will that fit straight as well?
 
I'd think the ECU and all the associated wiring would be different.....and the battery is in the wrong place in the old car. [8|]

Sorry, I'll stop trying to be technical......[&:]
