888 Prices

All,

Looks like the price of 888s has gone up again, a set of 18s for the Yellow RS are coming in around £900!

Anyone bought them recently/found a good deal?

I normally buy from Demon Tweeks as their stock is always fresh and they are local to me, this is where my pride of £900 comes from....

Cheers,
Kevin

I was rather hoping the price would come down as there's a new R888'R' which is about to be released............. They are continuing the R888 in some, but not all, sizes, so we'll have to see what happens price-wise.
I've given up on the R888 for now and am giving the Nankang NS2-Rs a try. Cheap as chips compared to R888. I've had one day out on them on the 968, but wasn't able to draw much of a conclusion due to less than perfect weather, but I think they look promising. If they are 90% as good as the R888 I will be happy enough.

Kevin,
Try www.tyreleader.co.uk they are now much cheaper on 17" for R888 than when I last looked in the Autumn. Might be down to weakness of the Euro (tyres are shipped from Germany) - I've used them a couple of times - great service.
They are under £600 for 17", which I haven't paid for years............. Couldn't try 18" as I don't know the right sizes.

Obviously bored on a Friday..................

For the sake of comparison Tyreleader are £589 delivered whereas Demon Thieves are £756 delivered for exactly same tyres and sizes. I think I know who would be getting my custom !

Jamie

Depends what R888 you buy from tyreleader . That price only for soft fronts of as far as i could make out old stock (seem to offer 2011 stock at a premium of tenner a tyre ?). Maybe just the sizes i was looking at? What sizes and hardness did you search for?

If they are the right size and hardness I guess they might be OOS by the end of the day !

I was looking at 255/40/17 and 225/45/17 both in medium GG compound. As for age, intuitively the "2011" must be newer than the undated stock as it's £10 more per tyre. I don't think I'd be overly worried about ordering the cheaper stock though...........

Out of interest the Nankang NS2Rs which I paid £430 for from JJC in October are now £385 via Tyreleader...........

Jamie

I guess this means that we'll see it out on track again this year? [:)]

BTW I think the 2015 Demon Tweeks catalogue has a 10% discount code on it. I'll try and look it out for you later.

Good information guys. I need a new set before the RS day and wouldn't want to run the risk of trying anything other than 888s

Ian

thanks Jamie and all!

and yes, it looks like the RS will be in service for at least the RS day as I have not managed to sort anything else yet.....

If I had the energy I would pinch the 17s off the NGT but last time I tried that I did my back in and ended up horizontal for a week :)

You could try Tony at Tyres South Shore Ltd in Blackpool. Tony is the official supplier of R888s to the BRSC Porsche Championship and has a direct link to Toyo UK.

A set of 17s from DT is coming out at £755 which is the same as last year. Unfortunately, as you know, the 10% discount code has run out (I paid £680 last year with the discount).

Thanks Spyderman, fresh rubber on the way direct from Toyo!

Jamie, of course, they were a little over 10% cheaper than DT overall on the 18s which I think are the same sizes as the Boxsters run in BRCC, can't remember the exact prices per tyre/size as I don't have the invoice yet but I can post when received.

He is a very helpful guy and well worth a call.

I have a set of 17"'s coming Via tyreleader. Think they came out about £635, probably be another £50 to get them fitted. Does the DT price include fitting? If not, tyreleader seem even better value. Prices had changed by about a tenner a tyre when i eventually odered them, so they were less than £640 originally.
I figure that trying to sell a car with shagged out Toyo's would not be the most sensible way forward.[:D]
