I wonder if these are 'in house' cars that have been used for driver familiarisation for sales staff, Test-Drive Plus, etc.

[&o] I can confirm two of them are just that as I have driven them personally [;)]

I have a feeling that there are quite a lot of new ornearly new Boxsters out there at present despite what Porsche or the Dealers say. Iam on my 14th Porsche(Boxster S) and have heard the tale before-6 months delivery but we just happen to have a black cancelled order.....etx

I know the one that is in Glasgow is not a Scottish Reg car.I suspect it is a Porsche GB car .

One in Colchester is a Dealer car from what i can make out, have spent quite a bit of time there over the last couple of weeks as thats where i'm getting my 986 S from, only 6 days to go!!!!!!

Well I waited 13 months for mine!

Ordered April 1999 - drove off the forcourt in May 2000.

People having to pass up build slots is a very common thing. People being able to afford new cars at these prices do tend to be upwardly mobile and giving up slots for later dates is not unusual to say the least.

JCB..

When I placed my order in Jan for June delivery, Colchester told me that as they had been such good boys and sold loads of cars, they had an extra allocation of pre specced cars allowing customers the option of immediate delivery if the spec suited. So not only can you get loaded used cars, but I'm sure you can get brand new ones as well. You'll find that they'll all have the flashy extras though - PASM, chrono plus, PCM - that sort of stuff.

Colchester told me the same, they have sold more new registered Porsche's this month than the Peugeot dealer which is part of the franchise group down the road.

over 40 new Porsche's pretty good going i'd say!!!

When I had my TD+, in a fully loaded S, I was told that after about 2K miles the test cars were serviced, and then auctioned off to the OPC network.
So. Reading registered cars with 2K miles are most probably ex-test drive cars.
Seems they get ragged from day 1. My one had 1K miles on the clock and had been in use for about 2 weeks !
