911 4S Cabrio Central locking failure - help/advice

Hi,

I have a 997 cabrio and it won't lock! When I click the lock button on the remote it beeps the horn twice but then the doors remain unlocked. Have tried locking it manually (doesn't work) and when I drive or stop at a junction and pull away the horn beeps twice (sooo embarrassing). Not sure what to do Porsche dealer not open til tomorrow... anyone know of a temp fix or fix? Cheers

I think a double hoot indicates an alarm system failure (probably a statement of the bleedin' obvious to you right now!) - might be in the manual. Check to see if the interior lights are working - from other forums, it could be caused by a module failure in the driver's door.

Hi Kate and welcome to the forum. Firstly, can I suggest you repost this thread in the 997 part of the forum - it may get more attention there!
I can't help specifically with the problem but worth checking that all the bits and bobs are properly closed - engine compartment etc and also glove box and centre console. We've had all sorts of problems posted on here but I don't think I've seen one where it beeps twice every time you pull away from stationary! I guess other drivers might start to take offence!![&:]

Thanks everso for the advice to both of you. Have reposted as requested in 997. Yes tried shutting everything. Actually went to a Porsche dealer on Sat am and they plugged it into the diagnostics (just for the beeping when pulling away) but they said no fault found so they rebooted but ever since the central locking wont work! so not sure what's been done. Am sad as only had the car 5 weeks (used) and the sat nav doesn't work either! [:(] that's going in to Porsche in a couple of weeks as they couldn't find out the problem on the initial inspection it's had a new screen but the wires don't look severed....

Make sure everything is closed properly - sounds like one of the locking contacts is sending a fault message - apart from the obvious roof locking (!) check the centre console bin is properly shut. Good luck - hopefully nothing too serious.
