911-50 Wheel kerbed.

I'm really annoyed with myself. Had a Cayman for 7 years and not a mark on the wheels. Today, in an easy spot, kerbed my front wheel on a stone that jutted out. Where is the best place to repair the damage? I'm in North London.

How annoying []

From my knowledge the one company that gets consistently good reviews for all types of repairs is Lepsons in Kent. I seem to remember they have agents who can get the wheel there and back.

It is annoying but most of us have done it at some point.

I would recommend Exel Wheels, speak to Chris he will arrange collection and delivery back to you. He uses Lepsons who are very good. This may not be the cheapest option but is likely to be the best.

Perfect timing, just kerbed my bmw and was looking for the right rec. Knew i'd find it on this forum

If the damage is not too extensive I can recommend T Smart. I had small scuff on one of my diamond polished alloys on my new 991 and everyone told me that only a major refurbish would sort it out. This guy proved them wrong (and at a fraction of the price). He's North London based too so should be able to sort you out quickly. Here's the link:- http://www.alloywheelrepairs.org/

I'd be very keen to hear from others as to how robust this mobile repair is. I've called Chris of Excel, but he said he is too busy at the moment and hasn't replied to the email I sent him about a month ago. I'm not desperate because the damage is small, so if this mobile repair works, I'd consider it.

If Excel are too busy, try Lepsons direct, they'll arrange the courier. www.lepsons.com

I had a small repair done on a 997.1 rim a while ago by a mobile operator and it was absolutely fine for the next couple of years 'till I sold it, so this could be the solution for you.

FYI I have just been quoted 180 + vat by Porsche Mid Sussex to 'do' one one mine. They send the wheel away. What have you been quoted so far?
Cheers

Subscribed. These cars are a lot wider than Caymans, so easy to scrape the rims, thank goodness I bought the tyre and wheel insurance when I got the car.

Something I found out recently on tyre and rim insurance was that they only allow 5 claims in total over the 3 year period- each policy may be different mind you..
When I first had this car I slightly caught a rim on the chunnel and had the damaged repaired.
I recently when to have a claim on the two rears and when pointed out I only had three claims remaining I've decided to pay for the refurb in case a pothole should take out a side..!
