911 (964) Carrera 4 Inspection

Hi guys i need to get a pre-inspection report done on a 91 Carrera 4 in Solihull, I have just agreed to buy it subject to it being OK, can any body recommend me somebody & also what is the expected cost.

I also want to check the Vin No out to make sure she is a 91 car and not a late Reg 1990 car, any idea how I could find this out on the internet or is it a case of calling Porsche direct to check?

Many thanks for your help, cheers

I can't immediately offer any suggestion for the PDI - not my part of the country - but I'm sure others will.

On the model year, the VIN tells it all. The VIN for a 1991 car should be WP0ZZZ96ZMS4xxxxx, the significant part being the "M"=1991. Bear in mind that Porsche build years are from September to July so a car produced as a 1991 model year could easily be built and registered in late 1990. The registration date is pretty immaterial.

Hope that helps.

Regards

Dave

Hi

Here is a link from John Miles website which explains how to decode the VIN and check the build year

http://www.porsche964.co.uk/technical/specs.htm

You should have have a 'M' in 10th position in sequence of WPOzzzzzzMxxxxxxx for a 1991 build.

As for inspections not sure who is best, but you can try Porsch Tech which is next to Shirley's Garage, Martin has been servicing my cars for 5 years and has carried out inspections for me, also not far from Solihul.

David,

It could have been the M40 between the M25 and the Silverstone turn off. It WAS, indeed, VERY wet yesterday.

Oh well that Porsche has gone down the toilet, the lady owner in Solihull is refusing to release her car to Martin Brown for the inspection sayings its to inconvenient, well I said I aint buying it without an inspection so pulled the plug, plus I found out that dispite her trying to misslead me with the dumb blond approach she had not had the car serviced in over 2 years despite sayind it had a FPSH as far as she was aware,

Buyer beware, bloody time waisters

Mark, I can't find it is there a PM system on the board or did you try & email me directly, not sure I filled it all in etc, here is my email address david@hja.co.uk.

Thanks mate
