911 C?

Hi allh

Just got back from Harrogate where I saw a stunning old white 911 with crome trim including, I think a chrome strip up the centre of the bonnett and the rear air vent also. Looked very old but the condition as it sped past looked show room. The only way I can identify it is by it showing "911 C" on the back, possibly a D reg. Any body any idea? [8|]

cheers

Mike

Sure it wasn't a 356C? 911s don't have a chrome strip up the bonnet - and the 911C badge on the back may suggest it was a bit of a hybrid/Heinz 57. D reg might fit for 356 body shape, but who knows? Shame you weren't quick enough to get a pic of it[;)].

I've managed to answer my own question after the wife trawled through a few Porsche books, your right it was infact a 356 C. which is an early 1960's model and the picture in the book shows chrome window edgings, bumper, sills, handles, headlights, door mirrors and a 2ft ish strip up the centre of the bonnett. It had a Flat 4 1.6 ltr engine producing a top speed of 109 and a 0-60 of 12.2 seconds. Not bad for 40 odd years ago. Hat off to the lady who was driving it as it was mint!!!!
Well spotted though MR pse_SC.

Now all you've got to do is save up enough to buy it. 356's in decent conditions seem to fetch silly money these days, when all you are buying is a 1600 beetle engine and a load of rust. Still they do look fantastic IMHO.

Retreats with flame suit on.

Yes, and most people who own these seem to have 3 or 4 other Porsches of different ages to play with too[8|]. Lucky them[:D]!

Yep, I used to own two of these and Mark is on the money with his description tbh.

I don't have them now as I bought an ex-wife.

C'est la Guerre[;)]
