911 C2S Gen 1 Blowing Exhaust

Hi all
Driving to work this morning I ran over a pot-hole and instantly got a blowing exhaust noise coming from the underside of the car, almost under my seat, it is very loud when I accelerate but eases when I ease off
I have never heard of exhausts failing on 997 911's but I think it might be a manifold/rust somewhere that has created a hole...

Has anyone had any experience as to the best place to look for said hole and any suggestions on a likely solution (time cost etc) I'm hoping I don't need new exhaust ( I have the sports exhaust)
Cheers
Rich

Afternoon.
Given how quickly the noise started, I'd more likely suspect a broken exhaust clamp or securing bracket on the drivers-side silencer, which has probably loosened the link between it and the cat. As this is quite close to the rear wheel I'd get it looked at sharpish!

Most unlikely to be under your seat, unless you have one of the very few front engined 997's in captivity! [:D]

As you have rightly deduced, you have likely damaged the exhaust system and that could mean anything from holed pipework or dislodged baccketry to damaged manifold/cylinder head! [:(]

The best idea is to get someone to take a look asap, since it's quite impossible to give you any firm diagnosis here. [;)]

Clive.

Don't forget to pass the bill for repairs on to the Authority responsible for maintaining (not) roads in your area.

I think the "Authorities" are on a hiding to nothing at the moment! I think also it depends if the crater has been reported or not?

These people shouldn't be allowed to get away with abdicating their responsibilities . Many of us have become sick and tired of paying through the nose for services we don't receive. []
Only 15 months to the elections!! [;)]

Perhaps we could start up a new party then. Main agenda items - fill the potholes and give free extended warranties on Porsches along with ridding the roads of all imbeciles - as previously covered in another thread!

We could use this as our party badge

Do you think we would get many votes?[:D]

Just prior to an election is the best time to get things done! [;)]

Regards,

Clive,
Indeed this is very true as the nation seems to have the memory span of a goldfish these days.

all fixed, just needed some new screws/bolts fitted on either side as it was blowing due to rust....running well again [:D]
