Porsche has just unveiled a new model at the Los Angeles Auto Show this week. Badged as 911 Dakar, Porsche say it is a very special variant of the iconic 911. It will be the first two-door sports car to offer outstanding off-road capabilities.

The model name is a nod to the first overall victory by Porsche in the Paris-Dakar rally. The breakthrough triumph came in 1984 in a modified Porsche 911 – which had been fitted with an all-wheel-drive system for the first time.

The new model is based on the 992 Carrera 4 GTS and has a limited build of just 2.5k units worldwide. It will retail in UK for something in excess of £170k - so more than a Turbo S - and you can spec a Rothmans style rally design pack to imitate the Paris-Dakar version for only another £18k.

There's plenty more info on YouTube including this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LGQAPyTpvQ

It's on sale now!

Regards,

Clive

Looks like they have sprinkled it with bits from the GT3 plus adding a trick suspension setup to raise the height. Carbon spoiler and other bits also, inc lightweight bits and carbon buckets. I suppose it all adds up. Plus I would imagine all are already sold out given it’s a limited edition. won’t be long before they are in the OPC used sites for big money. I would prefer a high spec GTS, bit that’s because I don’t go off-road (which will probably be the case for 99% of the dakars)

Good on Porsche for making this even if I wouldn't want or buy one myself. I guess only very special customers will get allocations anyway.
