911 SC modification

Hi

Im in the process of buying back my old SC. I sold it 6 years ago to own a 964 Carrera 2. In the last 6 years its only done 8 thousand miles, Its had a stainless stell exhaust fitted and I removed the Air pump and rail when I owned the SC last.
With the Carrera 2/4 it was common place to drill the air box or fit the Cup air box cover instead, this creates a fantastic induction noise under load, has anyone tried this on the SC.

See pic attached.

I can' t even see the pictures, unless I download them, and what' s the point of that ?

Nice pic Giles.
If you tick " embed picture in post" it will show pic without need to d/load.

I have heard of drilled air boxes but not with SC' s, I would be worried about rain damage.

I don' t think you can modify the airbox on an SC or any CIS injection engine because the air metering valve is very sensitive to air velocity and volume. It needs the air to come in and lift the valve at a certain speed to meter the fuel accurately.Otherwise the car would go better when you get a backfire and burst your airbox.Apart from a K&N filter if you really must tweak it I would leave well alone!
It' s the exhaust that limits the power on an SC.Changing to SSI heat exchangers and a 2 inlet silencer is the best mod you can do unless you start to go really silly with the cash.

Just a thought. Its had a single 3" SSi system fitted along with the heat exchangers. I removed the air pump 8 years ago to gain an estimated 5 bhp.
The first thing is sort out a total repaint, its needed a repaint since I last owned it 6 years ago and in that time even though its been garaged it has started to look tatty in the usual places.

Mine needs respraying aswell! I bought it 8 years ago with a rebuilt engine and box knowing that the bodywork would need doing one day. That time is fast approaching but I have had a lot of enjoyment out of the car and intend to keep it.Hence I am on the brink of spending out on a 10K body rebuild-Ouch[:D][:D]

Hi all I'm new here, I've just rejoined PCGB after a few years abscence. I'm going to be needing help soon, I just thought I'd show you my modified SC (in the Rennlist gallery below). Had it 18 years now and as it was needing bodywork and would never be concourse I decided to turn it into a project car and keep modifying it to my liking. What you see is the story so far but now I've lost first gear more of which later.
