Decided to renew the rear screen rubber seal on my SC last week; it was perished and tatty though not as yet leaking.
Thought I'd see if anyone lese might be thinking about doing the same. best advice is don't; if you value your sanity!
Stage 1 was OK; cutting out the glass etc. Bit fiddly removing the cable connections for the heated screen but hey I can live with that.
Cleaned up the odd bit of corrosion, nothing bad found so that was good news.
Then the fun started. You can get the rubber on the glass OK; but getting the bezel in the groove provided is not easy (and that is putting it mildly). So I tried putting the bezel in first like the restorers guide says; but then getting the rubber on the glass is a pig. And yes I used lots of glycerine
Anyway I managed it eventually but has anyone got any ideas on how to do it without wasting most of the weekend? It won't help me but maybe someone else. All I suggest is that you do disconnect the wiring from the engine compartment because in the long run fiddling about under the lid is likely to be less frustrating than fiddling about over the spoiler! Trouble is the wiring is right at the back of the compartment so is not easy to get at. I didn't bother but now think I should have done!
Next job is the same on the rear quarter lights which I think will be easier cos no wiring to worry about...
