911 SEAT REPAIR

reevers

My drivers seat has developed a problem with its retainer clips being broken. Local OPC blames Lumbar Support being constantly full on for breaking them, resulting in back of seat falling down, every time you come out of the car.

Usual OPC full repair quote of £400.00, seems very expensive, for what looks like 3 broken plastic clips. Anyone had this problem and if so any other repair option than through the OPC route.

What type of 911 is it? I've had my 996 seats apart, as well as a set of 928 seats: neither had lumbar support though.
What exactly do you mean by retainer clips...?

The car is a 996. The retainer clips are located on the inner side of the back pad on the seat. Allegedly the lumbar support was blown up too high, snapped the clips, resulting in every time you leave the car, the back pad falls flat on the seat.

I've had my 996 sports seats in bits but I don't have a lumbar support.

I don't quite see how it's £400 for the three clips. All you should have to do is order them, put them on the rear of the backrest and hook the backrest onto the frame.
Where abouts in Scotland are you?

PS Just had a quick look in the PET and can't find a part number for the hooks. Maybe it is £400 because they intend ordering a complete backrest cushion. Can you phone them and ask?

Thanks for that Paul. Live In Edinburgh, think OPC was wanting to replace the whole back of the seat, when in fact you are correct, replacing the 3 plastic clips will resolve the problem.
