Hi Gents,

I am a member of the Porsche club and the 912 Register. I own a 1969 912. However I have transplanted a 2.7 911S engine fitted with triple choke Weber's in place of the2.2 engine she had when I bought her 4 years ago. I have rebuilt and installed a 915 gearbox to deal with the increased load.
Has anyone a similar conversion? The car goes like stink but does get warm in hot weather (almost simmering)
I would like to get information on upgrades required to the cooling system. Does it have to be of a larger capacity, do you need a larger oil tank with a higher flow oil filter and does that require a complete change of oil tank or just the filter fitting? and do I need to fit a additional oil cooler under the front bumper
Thanks for any help offered,

Is the oil temperature guage from the same car as the 2.7 motor? They need to match. The 2.7s all had a front oil cooler in the O/S front wing, with ol pipes along the sill.

Nick, Thanks, I din't know about the need to match engine and temperature gauge. Can you be more specific about matching them? can I do this?
I would like to know about oil flow rates differences between the 912 and the 2.7 oil filters. I have fitted the restrictors in the cam box covers as recommended by W.Dempsey.
The oil pressure now when hot is about 4 bar at 3.5K RPM. Can I modify the filter fitting to allow the use of a higher capacity filter and would this aid cooling?
The retro fitting of an entire 911 S cooling system (oil tank, bypass/thermostat pipes and front mounted radiator) may be prohibitively expensive and I would like to avoid the need for this.
Thanks,
Dennis

The 912 is a wet sump engine so doesn't have the remote oil rank that the 911 has. I need to know what oil tank was fitted when the 2.2 motor was fitted, was it a 2.2 tank or an aftermarket set up?

What oil temp gauge is fetted? Take a couple of pictues to help me out.

When you fitted the 2.7 motor did you check under the cowling to make sure there were no mice nesting there? Don't laugh, it does happen and can destroy an engine.

Sorry, but more info needed.

Nick,
I didn't see any mice when I put new valve guides and valves in. I had the cams reground at Kent Cams at the same time.
(It still has the 2.2 oil tank in there, which makes me ask about the oil flow volume -is the filter too small?) I only assume it has sufficient volume of oil for the 2.7. engine.
I believe the 912 body was used as a donor car for a rusted out 2.2. all the gauges, dials, dash and running gear appear to be 2.2 (except, there is not an oil level gauge on the dash, and it dosn't have a hand throttle- someone told me not all early 911 had them fitted either)
I have put in an electronic speedo (for the 915 gear box I have fitted) I have photos but I'll need help on sending them.
Thanks,
Dennis
