Hi, could anyone recommend and reputable porsche dealer that would sell 912's in london please. Or anywhere else near.

Kind regards

Ricky

Thanks for the prompt reply Ian, ill look them up, also what are the most important signs to look out for on the 912. I've done a bit of reading and I know imports are generally a better buy, could you give me any pointers as I see you already own a 1966 912 coupe. This will be my first purchase of a 912 and I want to try and get it right first time.

one last thing, have you heard of a porsche garage in the tower hill east london area?

Regards

Ricky

As a long time 912 owner let me pass on some wise comments and if you chose to do different good luck!!

1 A dealer will want to make his mark up so watch out. BUT there are dealers and dealers.. Max at revival is one of us a 912 owner so you get his full understanding when you go to see a car and proper back up, others Esp in the London area are looking for suited and booted owners if you get what I mean.. visa sir arr. yes.
2 Imports are a better buy well I am up to 10+ cars now 5 being 912's yes and no.. lets put it this way unless the car has total proof it was restored by a well respected dealer for get it.. In the US they can get away with murder on the body work and as soon as it's in the Cold UK you get the slap in the face.. So then you end up with a full paint job and then because it's a celi paint job you have to strip the whole car.. but yes if you know what your doing then you can get some great buys. BUT the great buys are getting few and far between . I know of one very nice one owner car 66 and it'#s up for sale needs total resto but it's complete and for $4000 £2000 it's a gem.. ( I just don't need another resto at the mo.... )
3 Your budget.. what is it.. if you say I am not sure then your stuck already.. if you have £10k then there are some nice cars out there.. there is a nice yellow ( well sort after colour ) for sale over on DDK at the moment as of this week the only thing I know of the car is long term the car will need carbs sorting or they may have been done already..
4 if you have £10K then buy a US resto project and get the right people to do the work to it and restore the car to what you want and it will be a real gem..
5 don't pay £10K for a $4000 car ref your post above..

Again, 912UK, so so grateful for your help. It would seem max is the man for the job. I would be up for a resto job, but my learning curve would be very steep. The money you mentioned is in the price bracket i was looking for. If Max gets a good runner in, I am thinking I would be fairly safe in getting a reliable import from him and any problems I encounter he could deal with. My ideal colour would be the dark blue almost purple ink like coulour.

Again thank you for your help and would it be ok to to ask for more advice when needed ???

yep sure, call Max to see what he has.

also check this out I think it's worth looking at from memory of the small probs he had over the years. Mainly carb related but I think he had them rebuilt in the end. Not seen the car face to face or I might have done but not looked close. Sort after colour.

As with all cars if your not sure or what to be certain then get them PPI'd by some one who knows what they are looking for, could save you £1000's
