During the 6 years I have so badly, and kicking myself still, missed out on two 356s for sale. And so badly want one, but the money situation and scarce in 356 is not happening for me. One was obviously that red 356 Pre A, that was advertised in the 356register, and second was a silver 356B 1600 super in London.

Why did I miss out, well I was too eager in buy a new Boxster at the time!! mistake!!**!!

Anyway, family situation changed with new house and stuff, couldn't afford!

It was only recent, the Porsche bug has come back as the VW scene has become a little static and boring.

The question of this topic was would you have bought a 914 or a 912?? and why?

I seem to like every Porsche especially 356,914,912 and even 924/944, forgetting that these are as ignorant people of us out there say, Poor mans Porsches!

I always loved the shape of the 914 when I was a kid, just looked like something from Joe 90, always wanted one then.
But I love that 901 shape... 912 anyday or at a push a Sonauto 914/6... [:D]

I'm with you on this - 914 hmm - 914/6 hmmmmmmmmm - 914/6GT yeah, yeah yeah [8D]

But the purity of the early 911 / 912 shape is timeless - and yours is a special car - the three dial painted dash was only produced in very small numbers.

I've not driven an early 912 but I'm told the handling balance is superior to the 911 with the engine further inboard.

BUT - having chased DrummerBoyTom's (off DDK) stunning (irish?) green 914/6 around the Yorkshire Dales last year - and seeing the way it cornered flat - and with ISTR a 2.7 up it's bum it goes like hot snot [:D]

They're different - but they're both definitive Porsche.

Alright - confession time - I was *seriously* tempted - I think it came with eligability to classic events like LeMans etc - now that would be a hoot! [;)]

Hahahaha

Yeah anything Group........anything and defo 4, yes!! yes!! yes!!! Love all Rallye cars Audi Quattro BOX, integrale,6R4s,RS200...... but seriously 914 are definately in one of my books as a totally different Porsche design, who have tried and braved themselves to try something different on the drawingboard.

yes, the 912 is a timeless piece, and thats what makes a good design!! Hence me being in the design field![;)] Iconic!!

Do i call you Helen(if your a female) or Goff, ive found myself on DDK, and for hours of reading.......i seem to think, from all reply from all the guys....that anything nice is defo a BUY BUY BUY for you[:D] is that right?

When I see something really nice on the for sale section, I see a reply...HELEN GOFF!!!

And yes, would love to bring the car out on the Yorkshire meet!! My gfriend lives out that way, so not a problem, just getting the car right before hand!!

Oh, and yes...im ambition is to have a 356 too!! prefably Pre A, god they makes me wet!![:-]

912's are lovely things, but 914-6's with big motors (mine has a 220hp 2.7) are great too. If you want to do work on the car yourself a 912 anyday, 914's are not that pleasant to work on!

Have to agree a 912 is so much more a pratical car to drive and look after than a 914 But having said that I would like a 914 at some time so I can say I had one.. I am up to 8 Porsches now and I need a 914 to complete the collection.. ( I must point these are cars are ones I have owned in the past.. I currently have 3 .356 54, 912 65, 912 69. )

I have the plate ready for a 914 ( if it don't sell on Ebay ) " EDZ 914 " just need the car.......
