Hi all,

Interested in a 2001 3.2s with 91k on the clock.
Would you buy with this kind of mileage? I know it all comes down to price in the end, but what should I be expecting at that mileage?
Cheers
Jamie

trouble![:D]

only joking!-if looked after properly and all elements replaced as scheduled, then you should not be in for any nasty surprises.check history carefully and get a proper check.

I have owned a 2000 2.7 bought Feb 2008. It had over 90,000 miles on the clock when I bought it and a full Porsche centre history.

I don't do a lot of miles in it and to give you an idea of what to expect here is how it has been so far:

1) The brakes were all quite bad when I bought it and I bought it knowing this. I replaced all of the brake pads and disks, an easy job for a competent DIY mechanic.

2) Had the car serviced and MOT tested by Jon Mitchell in Christchurch autumn 2008. Passed MOT no problem and Jon gave it a good look over. The only thing that he advised was rather corroded coil packs but I left them as is because it's an easy DIY job and the car is running OK with no fuel computer lights.

3) A few weeks after the service it started to loose coolant. This was the infamous tank in the boot split, a common problem I understand so back to Jon. Very time consuming and cost about £500 to replace.

4) Running fine since. Now over 100,000 miles but has picked up a nasty vibration at 3000 revs. Everything I read seems to point to the front engine mount for this so I am going to replace it next weekend. The only way to inspect it is remove it so I might as well replace it whilst there.

5) The wheels are corroding badly now so will have to do something about that. Possibly because it has to live outside where we are. We have a small hard standing but even that is a luxury in these parts.

If in doubt get it inspected.

We have just done a 2000 round trip in Europe in ours.

If you buy it cheap enough and it has had lots of work already done then no reason not to buy - of course your buyers will be more limited come resale, more so for every 10k miles thats added to the odometer, but its sometimes better to buy a car thats had lots of wear n tear items changed in the last 20k miles than a lower mileage car that will need things doing soon.
