My wife has commandered our Cayenne (the family car - kids, dogs etc), which has left me looking for some transport to get to work.

I'm after a 924 and have a budget of up to £1000 (I'm lucky, my company sort out the Cayenne). It has to be reliable as it will be used every day. A couple of miles each way. I've been trawling the internet and found the following:-

Its Auto and I have never driven one of these. What are they like?

Plus any good 924's for sale please let me know.

Unless you need an auto, don't do it. It will be a great dissapointment and there are plenty of decent 5 speed 2 litre cars in your price range.

agreed, autos are always advertised as rare, thats because ,who wnats one? 924's are a drivers car, no power steering etc then ruin it with an auto box?? i drove one once, it was awful.

I've just recently sold a n/a one, if you are motorway/city driving then they are great IMO, but it does take a some of the fun out of the car on back lanes etc. Makes it feel a bit more GT like, but sadly the n/a engine just isn't really up to it, better look for a manual, and with £1000 to spend, you'll find a very nice clean one for that.
