924 Carerra GT Help and Advice?

tell me gents....do these babies have rear seats?.....and would I like it more than my Clio 172 Sport as a daily driver? Is the turbo lag as bad as they say and all the questions like that?

Yes the GTs have rear seats just as the standard 924 but the GTS and GTR don't - will you like it as much as your clio? - haven't driven the 172 but you are going back to a 1980's generation car with no power steering and firm ride - turbo lag is there but you get used to it - it kicks in at about 3.5k and in the wet whilst conering can be entertaining, but you get used to how and when to judge gearing and cornering! - I think "smiles per mile" would go to the Carrera GT !! - get one that has been regularly used and properly maintained and there is no reason why it can't be a good daily driver.
Oh - and because of the shift layout pattern - fit a reverse alarm inside the car to prevent your wife/partner or other occasional driver from selecting reverse instead of first and reversing into the queue at the lights!!! - believe me its nearly happened to me a few times!!!

I haven't driven a Clio so it's a bit difficult for me to compare. I can't say that I find the turbo lag to be a problem on the road & it's even less of an issue on track.

The car does have bags of character & you do get noticed, if that's important to you [;)]

The Clio is undoubtedly going to be easier to drive, particularly about town, due to the difference in the cars age, but I don't think you are considering buying one to go to the shops[:D]

Thanks guys. You're right I'm used to idiosyncrasie's having taken the bitter/sweet pill that is the 964RS and one of the reasons I'm interestd in the CGT is that its rear wheel drive as opposed to front wheel drive in the clio.

Do either of you use yours as a daily drive?

I've seen a couple for sale, one specifically at GMUND which is low miles though the least favorite of my colours, black. Is this mileage c. 20k too low?

There is a black one currently advertised on the Autotader website, just in case you missed it.

Sorry - been a way for a few days......don't drive mine everyday - in fact haven't driven it at all for a long while but I'm sure I could - its just the problem of leaving it around anywhere..... I prefer to take it places I know! - 20k miles seems very low - I left mine for a while without using it and I believe I made a wrong decision - when they're running they're fine but like anything if you don't drive them things tend to seize up. Mine needs some work right now so I'm having the engine out and rebuilt along with a brake and suspension overhall - then I intend using it on a more regular basis.
