924 Martimi

Very little. The Martini car is interesting but it is only a paint job which you will be replacing if it is a project.
A reasonable, running 924 requiring a little cosmetic attension should cost less than £1000.

As RS I feel duty bound [:)] to point out that the 924 Martini is a rare car now with only 100 making it to British shores.
I think you should buy it, send me a Register form telling me all about it - then lavish time and money on it!

[:)]

My brother and I have one each both are genuine 924 Martinis, my brother Neil uses his as an every day runaround, mine is stored awaiting restoration.

I paid £500 for mine but it is in a bad way, but it still has matching numbers and the original number plate, the first owner was Porsche GB and the second owner was a model shop owner called Phill Grenno who happens to be a freind of mine (small world story there) I am the 8th owner, Phill sold the car in early 78. Neil paid £650 for his with a full MOT. The seat material is unobtainable, I have tried Southbound (David Nunn) with no luck, also the strips are not avalible from Porsche any longer, we are having some made.

We have some promotional material about the Martini's, we thought they might make a sweet little car when restored.

Where did you get the figure of 100 cars from ?

Regards Barrie

Geoff
You should be a less negative considering your position in the club! all of the limited models should be supported and if someone is so daft as to spend money on a Martini then they should encouraged, see my other reply in this post.

On that note, can I sell you a one owner 1860 Singer sewing machine. Very rare and in mint condition?

If I give advice it is my considered advice. Trust me I am a Director.

Hello Barrie

Not sure if we have been in touch before but I'd like to send you a Register form for both cars, they are important cars to add to the Register. To have one Martini is rare, but two! My e-mail address is paul@hedges.org.uk

The figure of 100 cars is from Porsche, that is how many were allocated for the UK market (priced at £7673 new).

Great to see you on the forum [:)]

P.S. Geoff, I'm quite interested in the sewing machine [;)]

Suppose condition must rule! As a project car it must be cheap - a certain NW member has just paid £50 for a basically sound car, needing a water pump and belts to make it a runner. That was for a '80, 90k 924. An ex-colleague paid loads more (7 times as much!) for a similar motor. Cost him £150 to get it through an MOT and sold it on for £1000.
Did you see 'Wheeler Dealer' on Home & Leisure - revamped a 83 car paid £700, spent £315, and sold for £1500.

Cheap motoring or WOT[8D]

I would like to get both the cars on the register although it has to be said mu brother is not a club member.

Have you seen the blue 924 (1979 model reg number 3 AOU ) in Peter Morgans 924/944/968 book, well I see that guy driving the car about once a month, car now has space ship mileage but is still in excellent condition.

My email address is Lancia038@hotmail.com if you want to send the register form.

Many Thanks Barrie

Yes, I saw Wheeler Dealers, and I have to say I was overjoyed at the positive attitude towards the car. Mike Brewer seemed to love it to bits! [:)]

I'll have to find out who bought the project car and get them on the Register (if they aren't already)

The section on rennovating paintwork almost had me out in the garage ready to work on mine - but I use it so much it doesn't get time to rest - I like driving it too much [:)]
