Sorry to hear that the car its beyond economical restoration. Are you going to buy a replacement 924? Do you have the rear wiper motor, cover and arm available? Is the UJ on the steering column in good condition?

Hi all,

I've got a 1983 924 2.0 which is sadly never going to go back on the road. It's a shame, but there are plenty of much better examples out there which would cost a lot less to buy than it would take to put this one back on the road in a good state.

There are some good parts on it which I'm happy to sell on (not for very much), if it helps out anyone on here.

Parts that I'm keeping are: -

Front seats
Steering wheel
Indicator stalks
Gauges
Fuse box
Metering head and air flow meter assembly
Warm-up regulator
Header tank

If you need anything please let me know and we can agree a price (including postage).

Rich

I'm planning to buy a 944 actually - hopefully an S2 - I loved the chassis of the 924 but it felt quite sluggish. I'd guess the engine wasn't kicking out the full 125bhp quoted, but even then it just didn't really accelerate like I hoped it would. Last time I drove it (2009) the rear wiper worked fine - certainly all the parts are there. How does £25 couriered sound? I'll have to keep the UJ as I'll need it to move the car around... It's probably not in good nick anyway... Rich

On Saturday 8th October we are holding the 2011 Frontrunner event at Porscheshop HQ at Halesowen, Nr Birminghan. There will be full details in the next Porsche Post but what may be of interest to you is that there ia a 'car boot Autojumble'. Bring your bits along and sell them. For larger items it might be an idea to photograph trem. You might also get so0me ideas about your replacement car.

It might be worth popping over to the 944 forum. You'll get some interestingly varied views on which is the best model to go for! That sounds like a reasonable price. PM me so that we can work out payment.

Thanks for your offer Geoff - unfortunately I'm off to Somerset that weekend so won't be able to squeeze it in - I look forward to reading about it in PP though - it's always a good read :) Simon - thanks for your advice re: the 'best' 944 - I'll pop over to the 944 forum and take a look. I'll send you a pm about the rear wiper too. Rich

Without an eBay style method of providing public feedback I thought I'd post it here.. Prompt delivery - great communication - A11111++++++++++++ [8D]

Thanks Simon ;) There are quite a few bits that might be of use to people - for example the sunroof bag, rear seats (brown stripey fabric and leather), electric mirrors, rear spoiler, stereo... If anyone needs anything let me know Rich

Hi Simon - I think the stereo is an OEM fitment - maybe Blaupunkt. I'll be able to confirm this weekend. It's nothing special, it just looks original. The speakers are OEM too, but again aren't anything special. Vitesse - how does £25 couriered sound for the sunroof bag (UK mainland) or £35 couriered to the Ilse of Man (if that's where you are). Rich

Quick update - the stereo is a Pioneer unit with cassette player, and the speakers are Blaupunkt. Vitesse - I've got your e-mail and will reply with a picture of the sunroof bag once I've taken a photo or two. In general the condition is excellent, but there are one or two marks on it (mostly on the inside). Rich
