924 Rear arm stub axle removal!!

Help!!!

I am trying to replace the bearings on the rear axle drivers side but am having real problems getting the stub axle out of the trailing arm. I have tried a three arm puller, hitting it with a hammer and praying!!

Does anyone have any advice on this? I have removed the outer bearing shell (and all the bits of bearings) but the inner piece is still on. Do I need to remove anything else to be able to drive out the stub axle??

I have done this job a couple of times on a 944 S2... I believe the bearings may be different, but suspect the job is basically similar. I used some very substantial pieces of steel (5/8" x 1 1/2") cut to just fit on the bearing, but inside the housing, edge on with some M12 studding screwed into it and then through a similar sized bar, flat on, across the front with various blocks to act as a puller. The forces necessary are huge, and I had to put a thrust race under the M12 nut or I couldn't turn it, even with a long breaker bar. It worked, but I bent the 5/8" thick steel bar across the front slightly. Second time round I turned up a bearing pulling block, and used M16 studding as a puller. This still needs a thrust race, and worked better, but the coarser pitch of M16 studding means an even longer breaker bar is necessary to pull it out!

I managed to get it out eventually with a huge Copper hammer and extreme violence :) Well made bit of kit really. Its turns out the inner shell of the bearing had chewed its self to bits and welded to the stub axle.. A bit of grinding later and new bearing kit and shes back together and turning smoothly.

Major problem now though, it seems one of my delightful children has ran off with the outer spacer and I cannot source another. I have tried GSF and Eurocar, no joy. Also tried Porsche but it is now an obsolete part and they cannot get any either, anyone have any idea whereI can get one from???? if all fails I will have to have one made with the other side as a template. Just to confirm, this is the spacer that sits inside the outer seal between the bearing and the main nut..
 
I would have thought any of the usual breakers could sort you out with one of those - not the type of thing which will exactly "go wrong" very often!

Thanks for the offer, I will bear it in mind if the spacer I got from VW Heritage doesnt work out... Its a couple of mm too fat but I have put it back together anyway! Took it out for a shake down today, I forgot how much fun this car was :)
