924 sills

Does anyone know where you can get 924 sills from?
I've seen the ones that you weld on top of the original sill to strengthen it but i'm not sure they'll be of use to me as the whole drivers side sill is shot on mine so really needs completely replacing.
Any ideas guys?

Usually the rear inner sill is as bad as the outer, if not worse (at least both were on mine), so I got the work done at an independant Porsche body shop in Reading: Specialised Paint took pictures of the job inside the sills before & after, so at least I have some peace of mind.

Otherwise, you can get pattern sills (without the tringle indent mid-way below the door), good second hand sills, or genuine Porsche new parts, to suit Sir's budget..fitting the outer is not that tricky, but I wouldn't feel happy doing the internal work around the rear torsion bar.

I agree 100% with Sean. Rear inner sill (near that large nut that holds cast bracket on the ends of the torsion tube assembly) is a regular rot spot - along with the mud trap at the back of the front wing where it joins the floor/sill corner.

And yet still the multitude of eBay advertisers say " no rust problems .... galvanised body" . If only.

Cheers guys,
Yes the mud trap wing areas need sorting - luckily the rot stops before the rear area though but is bad towards the front of the sill.Hoping to get a pattern outer sill and i haven't come across any secondhand ones yet. Will have to keep looking.

No.
I have never seen a 924 with rusty sills. I have owned four and had no problem. This is why I have two 924S's rather than 944's.

don't mean to put a negative spin on this but mine has rotten sills, both of them have had to be cut out and in the summer I will be welding in new ones, so yes they do. I guess not as bad as a 944 but you would need to check any car before buying.
