I have seen in the 944 section of the forum, 944 spotting.
Thought I would start a 924 spotting section here.

Post when, where and the VRM if possible of any 924 you see on your travells here, just for fun[:D].

I'll start;
Saw a smart Red 924s in Croydon this morning, C reg, it was me!!!!

Anyone else?

Great idea, I saw a red one 924S (Me) a red 924 damaged (my stepson's) a white 1980 le mans (my last restoration) another white le mans (my other one breaking down for parts for my restoration).[:D]

Great idea.

My 924S is in storage for the winter but I've just seen a nice 924 roaring round Paris in the DVD of 'Smiley's People'. The BBC TV drama of the book by John Le Carre, starring Sir Alec Guiness.

Ah, I've seen that as well, I've added it to the FAQ - but can you freeze frame and tell me what model and registration number the car is on the DVD

the 924 also appeared in The Professionals - The Untouchables (transmitted: 16th January 1983)
Episode 8 Series 5 - filmed: 1st-12th December 1980
Registration: unknown

and
Agatha Christie - Murder is Easy (1982)
Warner Home Video 2005 (DVD)
Registration: unknown

My 924 is sitting in my cold garage in Luton, I've not used it for a couple of weeks and I'm itching to take for a run out.
Seeing a 924 out on the road is a notable event, much rarer than seeing a Boxster for example! [;)]

If you've seen a 924 on TV or film let us know.

Re: Smiley's People

They have tried to obliterate the reg no. It's a LHD model but doesnt have the standard black/white French plates. The plates look to be yellow with black lettering but it's not a UK no. It's meant to be a diplomat's car. Using zoom its still very 'fuzzy' but the best I can make out is 37 CD 263.

The car looks to be a metallic tan colour. It has black leather (may be plastic) trim. The seats are black/white checked fabric with black leather (or plastic) trim. The door panels have the PORSCHE logo embossed in large letters just below the windows. Again it's been 'fudged' but it looks just to
have 924 on the rear panel. There is no spoiler and it looks to have
standard wheels.

The car appears on Disc 2, Part 4, scenes 6 & 7.

Our 924S is in daily use-I'd rather leave the 964 in the garage whilst all the salt & grit is around & whilst we were away in Newcastle over the New Year at our Daughters,I prefer the "cheap" but beautiful near original condition 924S to be left on the drive nose against the garage door, then at least we only lose £2500 if it gets nicked. It does mean frequent washing but it immediately responds to Simonize Wash & Wax and rapidly gleams again.[:)]
