The following info is taken from a table of cars previously manufactured viz a vis those still in use, apparently published in Auto express but highlighted in a "freebie" paper,The Metro today.
Porsche 924 total sold between 1976 and 1987-(UK)--5,252.
Number remaining 3,534.
This compares with745 Morris Marina's v 807,000 and 2,010 Cortina MkIV/V's v 1,065,682.
Just thought you would like to share that with me!

Thanks Colin.[/b]
I managed to find some figures at the end of 2004, I wonder how they match up to your figures.[/b]

[/b]
From December 2004 Porsche Post[/b]

Monthly Factlet "" 5,252[/b]

This is the number of cars on the road at the end of March 2004 which is
the latest data available. This will therefore include any cars imported,
and exclude any which were registered here new but subsequently scrapped or
permanently exported.

I asked whether this figure includes vehicles that are currently registered with "˜Statutory Off the Road Notices' (SORN) and received the following reply:

The Anonymised data as issued to us by the DVLA includes vehicles on which
there has been an amendment to the DVLA record within the twelve months
prior to the census point. Therefore the extract includes all currently
taxed vehicles, those which have lapsed up to a year and any records which
were declared SORN up to a year prior to the census point. Any record which
has been on SORN for more than a year does not come to us.
[/i]

The figure shows that of the 11,051 cars first registered in the UK over 50% have disappeared off the radar "" which starts to put a perspective on modern 924 ownership.
