924 Temperature sender

I may have asked this before, and I can't see anything in the FAQs (Fantastic job there Paul!), so...

Anyone any ideas of the easiest way to get to the temperature sender (the one for the guage) on a 924 Turbo? Should I resign myself to removing the distributor, and probably a whole bunch of other things, or is there an easy way?

As far as I am aware it just needs connecting, nothing actually wrong with it (oh how I wish I had connected it before I put the engine in!).

Or can some-one just tell me they have connected it in situ, and if so how many fingers they had to cut off first?

Many thanks,

Tref.

Hi Tref, The easiest way is having the engine out!! Other than that its a whole load of pain removing stuff around it and fiddling blind!!

Here's a pic to remind you of what your fighting with. Its the blue wire and will be hidden behind two water hoses, easy to see here as one of the hoses hasn't been fitted yet.

Good luck [;)]

A bit late I know, but thanks for that, it proved very useful. For the record, I did manage to reconnect it today. Had to remove the distributor, and the smaller of the two hoses (the one that is connected in you photo). I am blessed with small (ish) hands, but even so I considered myself lucky to somehow wiggle it into place by poking, prodding, stopping to take a look, repeat several times. Anyway, one more job ticked off on the Turbo Cab project...
