924s 4 pot calipers?

I've just bought a 924CGT look-a-like. The first area I need to look at are the brakes. I want some 4 pot front calipers, and I've read all about big reds and blacks, but they all seem to need adapter brackets. Is there not a four pot caliper that fit straight on, or do you need to start changing uprights?

924 Turbo, 924S and early 944 five stud hub/brakes are all the same and easily good for 200+bhp car with OEM discs and fast road/track pads. Replace the brake fluid also. TBH you are unlikely to need more on a 924, but if you did source yourself the early 944 turbo hubs, knuckles and struts at the front then the Brembos will bolt straight up. No mods needed at the rear to fit Brembos as long as you have the five stud set up.

What about these;

CarreraRSR,
The brakes (pads, discs and calipers) on the car (924s) all need replacing. As I intend to have more than 200 bhp there seems little point in spending money putting new standard items on, might as well upgrade now.

It isn't yet, I only bought it to-day! I used to build (classic car) racing engines for a living, so it's going to be.
But best have decent brakes and suspension before adding more power.

So what engine are you going to use for 200+bhp?

As I said the stock 924 turbo/944 brakes are good for 200+. Or go for the 944 turbo/s2 set up but more work on the suspension required to fit a 924 na.

You bought it today from ebay, in white, needs building?

Looked at that car a few times. Looks like a good conversion. My suggestion would be getting a refurbed 944 Turbo Brembo set up with new discs, fast road/track day pads and some racing brake fluid. That will be good for 300bhp+. Some 16'' Fuchs is a must!

As for engines, how about Audi Quattro 5 pot? Would be nice to keep a turbo on it and the 5 pot sounds lovely.

Keep us updated please.

The 924 CGT (937) used the same brakes as the 924 Turbo ( + 944 / 924S).

Id look at Boxster monoblock calipers, whichll fit with just a machined adapter. The only other 'simple' choice, although actually far harder and more involved, would be to source 1986MY 944 Turbo brakes / hubs / etc and fit these. Theyre inferior, hard to find, will need much restoration and will involve a lot of work to fit; so Id go for the Boxster option myself.

There isnt a plain bolt-on upgrade, in answer to your question:although the Boxster caliper option is pretty close. As others have said - the original brakes arent bad, having been used on the three litre 911 Turbo and the first 928s before appearing on the 924 Turbo.

What offset do I need for the Fuchs?

What do you use for a handbrake with the Brembo set-up? Looking at the pictures of the rear calipers this is not obvious.

I guess it's subjective in the end, but i've never been happy with the anchors on my 924s either and mine's running standard power. I was advised that the right pads and racing fluid would improve the feel but i still think that on a twisty road the originals are borderline.

my 924cgt -alike has a set of 968 calipers on it....

Which one did you buy? was it the white one?

lali,
See earlier in the thread for the link to the car I bought. I thought the white one was a bit expensive. Didn't sell at auction either.
What size and offset are your wheels?
