924's at the Porsche Festival

Just enquiring what presence the 924 contingent will have at the Porsche Festival?

The 924 championship will be racing on both days, and 924's of all guises involved with the Speed/ Club/ Open championships will also be there. So all in all a shed load of 924 racers.

Whats planned?

We plan to have up to 10 cars each day in the 924 Register enclosure at Brands Hatch.

I'll be there with the gazebo so bring a folding chair and relax in the brilliant sunshine [;)]

There are some places left for Sunday and Monday parking so if you want to get out of the main car park and be with the Registers let me know soon! It's not only the cars that make the day special it's the people as well [:)]

Any plans for parade laps?

It would be nice to see all the racers together with roadgoing 924, 924S, Carrera GT/ GTS etc

Parade lap details are shown in Porsche Post June 2004 page 141

Basically we will join 914s on track on Sunday 29th August between 5.20-5.35pm

The Register urgently needs more 924s for our parade.

I havn't thought about getting racers to join in as well - could be an idea.

How many do you have so far?

If I remember the details, it was £30 to join the parade. I thought that was a bit steep just to drive around. It depends really on who gets the most out of it. If members are desperate to parade around Brands they'll probably pay that much - if the club really wants to put on a display of cars then maybe they should set a price to attract more ?

Another problem for myself is that I'll be there with my 12 year old son. As he can't join in the parade, and the marshalling time is considerably earlier than the parade time (for which I can appreciate the logistics) I reckon he'll be left on his own for about an hour or so. I'm not particularly worried about his safety, and I don't doubt he'll find plenty to do, but I don't believe it's right to leave him to amuse himself for that length of time at a large public event.

It's not your fault, Paul, and I would love to parade, but not strongly enough to pay £30 - well, maybe not, I'll think about it !!!

By all means let me know if I've mis-interpreted anything.

Phil
