Hi all,

Anyone else on the forum have/had a 924s with an auto box? If so what sort of MPG were you getting?

Picked up the old man's car for a MOT and struggled to get 80 miles from £20! He always said it was thirsty but didn't expect it to be this bad....[]

Cheers
Russ

Russ,
I have a 2.7 944 automatic which gives a consumption of between 20 and 27 miles per gallon depending on how it's driven and the type of roads.

The automatic box only seems to change from second to top at about 45 so around town and in 40 limits you are only in first and second.

I would assume a 2.5 924S automatic has similar change points.

Cheers for the reply Mike

I'm thinking I will give it a general service and see if the consumption improves slightly, although it is comforting to know that you getting similar results!

On a positive note, it went straight through the MOT with no advisories [8D]

Russ,
Seems that we are in a similar location - I'm on the A21 near Lamberhurst. Do you have any good local mechanics and where did you get your MOT done as I will need one in a couple of months.

I use Bosch super sparking plugs and have fitted new Beru leads and am using Redex injection cleaner which seems to have helped improve the fuel consumption.

Hi Mike,

I'm on the A27 in Sussex mainly but the car lives between here and the A2 in Kent.

I use these these people GM Autocare as my friend is a mech there and they have a reasonable reputation. They were also happy to replace the seal on the oil cooler which a lot of local garages turned their noses up at!

MOT was £55 iirc

Going to order some plugs, leads, air filter etc and see how she is then. Think the lack of use does not help either.

Same as Fred, I always got around 30 in mine, on the run down to the Save Donnington day it did 32/33mpg on the way there and that was at a steady 80.

Around the doors it was more like 28/30, at present prices you should be get 120 miles for your £20 ( that's based on 18 litres costing £20 which is 113p per litre)
