924S Door Mirrors

I have just brought 1988 924S and sadly will by selling my much loved 924 Lux shortly.

The 924S is great, but there is one small problem....on the 924 lux it was possible to set the door mirrors to an wide angle so they completely eliminated any blind shot. On the 924S the mirror travel stops long before they are wide enough - which makes motorway driving much harder (and possibly less safe).

Someone told that the 924S has a different mirror adjustment mechanism (borrowed from the 944) and that just the way it is..

Does anyone know if this is true or is there are way around this ?

I can't believe that all 924S and 944s have mirror which won't really adjust too the optimum angle.

Although I'm not tall, moving the seat forward does help either!!

Thanks

Little stick on Convex mirrors should do the trick John. Halfrauds or most car accessory shops will stock them.

Cheers,

I can only think that the later type of mirror mechanism, with the quick release detachment ring can't move through the same angle as the early push in mount. It may well be that you have the later mirrors. Look underneath. There is a small hole in the mirror body through which the locking ring is reached. If you can detach your mirror via a ring, you have the later type of mount. If it bothers you to that extent you may be able to retrofit the ealry mirror mechanism, but you will need to replace the mirrors as well as they are not interchangeable. My 1987 944S had late types but I could get them where I wanted them. It could also be possible that one of the balls has broken off the end of the adjustment arm rendering proper adjustment impossible. Come to think of it, I don't have trouble with my 944 cabriolet either. Is the mirror body in its "detent" position?
