924S issues...

Hello everyone, this is my first post since joining the owners club.

I have a 1986 (Creg) 924s, since owning the car its had an issue. Where at around 5-5500rpm the engine hicups and loses all power, its like hitting a brick wall. The power then comes back till you hit that rpm range again. Apart from that it runs perfectly, idles beautifully. Has anyone else experience this issue?

I've changed the crank sensor, plugs, leads etc. Yet the issue still remains, any help would be great.

Thanks

Ewan

Hi Ewan and welcome to the forum

The 924 section is not the most frequented area and as you have a skinny 944 ( [:)] ) you may well find the guys there can give you guidance.

Cheers

Could it be fuel starvation? Does it do it when you are parked and rev the engine or just when driving?

If you carry a spare DME relay (If you don't you should) try changing that. It's surprising just what that relay effects.

All suggestions valid but sounds like a rev limiter effect so possibly still electrical.Amongst your replacements have you checked the rotor arm , distributor cap & coil as perhaps you are getting a total electrisal breakdown under load at those revs-have you opened the bonnet in the dark & revved it to look for any spark tracking
