924S race car update

I thought I'd post this here as the 924 forum is a bit quiet and there are a few 944 racers who come on here anyway

As some of you know from my other posts I bought this race car last year and raced it in 3 CSCC Modern Classics events in the second half of last year.

The car is fairly basic - bolt in roll cage and standard engine but was cheap to buy and run.

Over the winter I have made the following updates:

An Augment Automotive ECU and fast road cam has been fitted - power is up from 144 to 174 Bhp on the rollers they use (+20%) and torque is improved across the range, too.

-ve camber has been increased to -4 degrees at the front (from 2.5). The rear stays at about 3.

Increased front ARB (27mm up from 22, I think)

The car has been lowered slightly but there is still room for more

The battery and fire extinguisher have been moved to the rear spare wheel well

The gear change was very sloppy so its had a Jon Mitchell front and rear gear linkage kit fitted and is now very positive and precise

And there have been other minor checks and details improved.

I need to get it out on a track day or two ready fore the first race of the season which is on Sunday 13 April art Snetterton. 19 cars entered already. I can't wait. I will stillbe towards the back of the grid and wont win the class but it should be good fun and its a fairly cheap car to run for a race car.

Sounds good Andy, when do you arrive at Snett? I'm not sure of the time table I will race the FC's but will be staying for the last race on Saturday because I've got a pal doing the Sport's V Saloons in a MGB.

We should see each other at Silverstone, both racing on the same day?

Not sure what my plans are yet as my parents are in Kings Lynn and I may go to the circuit to drop the car off early and then go there for the night, or I may take the car to KL and just come down in the morning.

We will meet up sometime. I did try and persuade the committee that FC, MC and TT should always be on the same day as we have the most in common and could then consider doing extra races but it hasn't worked like that for reason I don't follow!.

31 entries in FC for Snett and 20 for MC already and we still have a 2.5 weeks(ish) to go before closing date!!

Not sure if you saw this pic in the 900odd David Stallard took:

Sounds like you have made some good changes Andy - power increase is impressive! Interesting to see how it all reduces your lap times [:D] What do you reckon for Donington?

No idea what expect really - clearly the car should be quicker but it's probably the driver that needs to improve more than the car, lol!
