924S rear hatch lock

Have pulled out the carpet and watched the rear latch mechanism operate as I press the electric release button. The centre section motors/rotates through about 80 degrees till it stops (?limit switch?) and then returns to base. Both operating rods are connected and moving - but the hatch is not released. I assume it was designed so that very small upward pre-load from rubber surround was intended to lift it a fraction when latches pull away ?
I read somewhere that Porsche had so many complaints about non-functioning that they issued some sort of disclaimer as to its actual function as described in owners handbook?
Could it just be that someone has over adjusted the pins and the latches are not able to come free ?
When I used the key, after numerous attempts it unlocked once. But having shut it again it defied numerous further attempts.
I'm hoping someone will say it is a simple adjustment issue.

You may find that the connecting cables have stretched with use. Have you tried adjusting them or the actual pins on the tailgate. You may find a liberal spraying with WD40 or a penetrating fluid will help. If you use PF then apply oil to the areas afterward. From what you have put it sounds as if the pins are screwed down too much and binding on the release mechanisms.

Cheers,

Have found my catches stick internally when the two 10mm nuts attaching them are too tight hope this may help
