hi,

seriously considering a 924S as my first porsche probably one that i can tinker with and do up a little. Is there much you can do with these cars with regards to performance tuning ?

now that i have found all the missing threads in the forum, i have manaed to find more into on this topic thanks

Before you start with the engine make sure that the suspension is up to it. These cars are at least 20 years old and shock absorbers, suspension joints and other item may well be tired.

The 944 engine is a good, quick unit and the best way to get performance is to make sure that the rolling chassis is capable of handling the power you already have.

Understand. If you start altering the specification you will have to notify your insurers and that will increase the the pemium if theuy wish to continue dealing with you.

thanks for the info, i am just trying to gather up info at the moment before purchasing a 924S and a heynes manual, as a little project depending how much i can pick one up for etc. :)

If you get a Hayne manual don't get the 924 Manual. There is nothing that relates to the 'S'. You need a 944 manual.

If you send me a stamped A5 envelop, stating your PCGB membership number I will send you a CD with the 944 manual on it. No charge.

Send it to

thanks for that , i am not quite ready yet and when i join the club i will be in touch. I see it's a mine field out there of information and will take some more research. Was kinda hoping there was a Haynes manual for the 924S that details the engine and the car clearly it is not that straight forward :)
