924S Wheels

Hope someone can help... [8|]

I have read up on this but still a little unclear. I have 15x6 Teledials on my 1986 924S. As I understand 52.3 offset 944 alloys will fit and fill out the arches nicely?

What about these wheels advertised currently on a VW: 'porsche teledial which are in a very rare size and offset 16x8 with an et57 i think or something close to that !! all really good condition no kerbs 2 have only just been painted no even been on the car !! they are wraped in 195/40 toyo proxes one tyre is brand new and have the proper gold metal crested badges which are really good condition too. ! oh also ill throw a spair pair of 16x7 in too'

or these:porsche teledials 15x7's all around ET 52.3 come with centre caps. tyres: conti' sport contact 2's 195/45's all good tread.

My car currently has some rear spacers the previous owner fitted, I am unsure of the width. I guess I would need to take those of and remove the longer studs to fit any of these wheels?

I am not too concerned about originality, but do feel that the Teledials suit the cars period looks. I want something slightly bigger/fatter. I also like Fuchs but they seem expensive for the right size/offset.

Hi Peter

Assuming
you have not upgraded the brakes
you have not lowered the car excessively
you remove the spacers off the rear hub,
all of the choices you list will fit a 924S.

I have experimented with everything from ET 42 5.5x15 and ET 36 6x16 Fuchses to 8x16 ET 52 D90s. Currently I'm running 7x16 ET55 as the best all round compromise for me.

Regarding offsets, the thing to watch out for is not to go less than ET 51 on the front, as offsets below this compromise the negative scrub geometry (safety feature during braking) built into our cars. ET 52-57 should be no issue on either axle.

Seven inch 944 ATS phone dials were fitted to the Le Mans special editions 924Ss. They retain the OEM appearance, fit properly and allow you to tyre-up the car.

Thanks guys. I quite fancy the 16s to be honest, with a small drop in the ride height.
I guess they are off a 928? What width of tyre is sensible?
The car is standard apart from that, Copenhagen Blue and I still want it to look quite understated...

Eight inch fronts are unlikely to fit, with a 57mm offset. I think that theyll sit proud of the front wheelarch.

...same guys has the 7s too, would they fit? Are these offsets rare as he says?
Assuming he's got the ET right, they are rare-ish. Which of course does not necessarily make them valuable, just rare.

7x16 will fit on the front with most tyres in 205x55x16: If they rub then it's in the lower inner arch. To be safe, you can fit 205x45x16s (or of course 195.. as are mounted on the wheels), and these will fit with clearance all round, irrespective of make.
If you want just one set ie 7x16 front and 8x16 rear and want to sell the "spares". let me know via pm. I can always use a spare set for on-track.

Ok, so I have made an offer on a set of "teledials, brand new refurb in white 7 x 16, 52,3 (iirc or close as) offset with BRAND NEW 195x40x16 rubber" for the sum of £300. Not sure about the white bit, but price seems good. Any thoughts?
To get the same rolling diameter as the original 195x65x15s I should put on 205x55x16 but it would seem an indulgence to change the tyres, this was supposed to be a cheap mod...[8|]
I guess the car might look like it needs lowering once these are on? Guidance welcome.

Yes: theyre ABS offset 944 Turbo fronts and theyll fit perfectly and look nice. As I said last year, the Le Mans cars used a pair of 7" ATS rears with a similar offset and theyll just fit at the front too.
