928 Clubsport very rare.....

Tell me more 928 Anoraks, apparently very very rare factory lightweight/racer based on GT/GTS?...................

They had cages as option and close ratio gearbox as well as lighter panels etc apparently and were track orientated many LHD made but only a few RHD if any....that's all I know

"The 928 Clubsport is a potent, lighter-weight 928S4. Usual deletion of the electronic windows, locks, soundproofing, etc. was apparent on this model. Even gone was the passenger side mirror! Its pretty rare that you come across this model since 928's were never really big racers like the 911. In total, about 180 kg of weight were removed to make this the lightest 928 ever sold by Porsche. A welcome improvement over the grand touring 928s which were critisized for being overweight. "

"The 928 Club Sport was a non-US version of the 1988 928 S4. The Club Sport featured a lightened interior and accessory deletions to pare approx. 220 lbs. off the car. Though the engine was reworked, the factory claims identical power and top speed as the S4. However, the rpm limit was raised from 6000 to 6775 revs and independent testing confirmed the CS outperformed the S4. The 'CS' did receive suspension upgrades and came with a manual transaxle only.Therefore the Club Sport was almost a test-market car in preparation for the 1989 928 GT.
It also appears there are two distinct CS versions - Euro vs. UK model. The UK model was a CS but with all luxury items intact ie. radio, AC, etc. and renamed the 928 SE (note 3). This was done as market data indicated buyer preference for fully equipped cars for UK sales. A dedicated Club Sport page will be included here in the future. If you find one in the US and can verify it's authencity with Porsche (don't be fooled by just the Club Sport stickers on the front fenders) - buy it! It will undoubtedly be the only one in this country..."

Might be wrong, but I think there was one in the Club's auction at the Highclere Event back in 1999(?).

White, German reg. Failed to sell and could probably have been picked up for a few grand.
 
Hi,

Derrek Bell had one and has only just sold it, he had a load of extra tweaks to it as well, went for around 25K.

CS for the euro cars SE for the uk ... there are a few on the 928.org list
