928 GTS 17' Tyre recommendations please

Hi

I've managed to track down set of 17' cup 2 alloys for my 94' GTS but they don't come with tyres and I'm struggling to find a recommendation for tyres. I know the fronts should be 225/45/Z/R17's and the rears 255/40/Z/R17's and I wondered what tyres you guys are running on and what your thoughts and advice would be please.

I recently bought the car and it has OEM 18' split rims but I knew they aren't standard and I really like the original stock look hence changing them.

Many thanks.

I have just had Toyo Proxes T1 sports put on my GTS, at Paul Anderson's recommendation. Personally I'm a Continental man but the Toyos are slightly cheaper. There's a lot of debate on the internet about Toyos - many people perceive them as a 'budget' option which I now understand them not to be - but you'll need to make your own mind up. I haven't done a great many miles since having them fitted but so far I more than happy. Previously it had some aggressively sporty michelins (i think?!?!) but IMHO they never suited the car - my S4 on conti sport contacts always felt much more predictable (but I need to add the suspension on the GTS was completely shot so perhaps not a relevant comparison) I *think* Conti sport contact 3s are available in the right size but not 5s?? I have sport contact 5s on my 996 and they are awesome - if they are available I would heartily recommend them, but I would also be hard pushed to offer any real criticism of the Toyos so far. So not that useful a post really!
