928s idles but cuts out when you increase power

Hi,
I have a 1979 928s, it had been off the road for over ten years when I aquired it. Due to them looking rather worse for wear the fuel pipes and accumilator have been replaced, the fuel tank removed and cleaned out, new fuel pump fitted and a secondhand meter head fitted as I was told due to the rusty fuel pipes the meter head would probably be full of rusty bits!! Can't get the fuel pump to run unless I bridge the relay (have tried a couple of relays without any luck) Once the fuel pump runs the car starts and idles but will not rev? Any ideas? Does anybody know what the plastic bottle type unit is in the rear of the front n/s wing (vacume?)
The reason I ask the cable that comes off the throttle body and through the inner wingto this bottle doesn't seem to be connected? Also when replacing the meter head I noticed that one of the small cylindrical top hats that sits in the top of each injector outlet was missing (I assume they are a valve to retain the fuel in the injector pipes) Would this cause a problem? Does anybody know the correct disscription and where to obtain a set?
Hope someone can help as would love to get it back on the road.

Thanks,
Duncan.

Hi Duncan :)

Welcome and your best bet for your problem is to Email Adrian Clarke (PCGB technical advisor) >>>> adrian928@tesco.net

He will help you :)

The bottle thing you mention if its a bobbly thing with several cylinders...is the cruise control vacuum unit...

Those relays you tried for the pump....were they NEW ??? as old ones are often faulty...

Hope this helps :)

All the best Brett :)
