I have a 928S4 that I want to sell but am not sure of how much it is worth and the person interested wants a written value ?.The car is a 1988 cat C,car with a VOSA,but the bodywork has not been done, the car has also got a head gasket problem,It would be great if someone could give me an estimated written value,or just some idea,s
many thanks John

John,

Values are fairly flat at the moment even with good condition cars. An 88 S4 in good condition are sell for around 5k which is great value for such a car. At the end of the day its difficult to value 928's because its just down to what people are willing to pay. Giving that fact your vehicle is a CAT c & Head gasket issue i would say a value between 900 - 1500 but this is very dependant on the bodywork damage. This vehicle is probably worth more in parts when broken up.

What is wrong with the bodywork?how long has the headgasket been a problem?
The price will also be dependant on the interior condition.

Bodywork is tatty, with cracked back bumper, rear seats are missing, and the head gasket is leaking oil into the coolant system.

then i'd say anything up to about £1500 considering the work needed to bring it back to road worthyness.Probably worth more in spares if you could afford the time to break it up.

Worth far more in parts. The issues that you can see are not the only ones you will encounter. Easy to run up £1000's on tiny things. If you want to drive a 928 then find the best one that you can afford. Make a list of all the things that other people say they have spent money on - and check them out.

Here's a few examples that I have spent money on:
Reconditioned steering rack £350 part
Engine mounts £50 for some rubber replacements - 6 hours labour to fit
Cam belt & water pump best part of of £1000 including labour
Repaint - £1000 in replacement trim alone
Airconditioning condenser and rad + labour £1000

and don't think if you spend a load of money the car will be worth more - it won't (unless you can turn it from an S4 into a GTS [:D] )
