930 Electrical problems

I'm posting this on behalf of a member, as I suspect that a number of you may well have been there already! Any help would be appreciated, and I'll advise Bob to join the Forum.

I have a (fairly recently acquired) 911 turbo and I would like some
help
with two (may be related) electrical questions:

1. My intermittent wiper control does not work, nor do the wipers park
properly. I believe this is probably due to a failed intermittent wiper
relay. I believe the part number to be 911 618 149 01. However I have
been
unable to locate it on the car. Could you explain exactly where it
should
be?

2. At the back of the luggage compartment, on the right as I look,
there are
a line of relays which start with the intensive wash relay, then two
others
and lastly I have a base with no relay in it. What should be there?

Many thanks

Bob Foulser

Are you sure it is not the column stalk/switch? Try wiggling it around. They are quite weak from my experience, although I have always managed to tweak them around (the indictator stalk is also the same) & not needed to replace one as yet in seven years.

Have you seen the relays behind the instruments ? Remove that panel behind the brake booster that also covers the cold air blower motor from inside the luggage compartment if you haven't.

Thanks for response. When I wiggle the stalk it starts a wipe but stops in mid-sweep.

I have removed panel and discovered the air blower but have not removed it. Any recommendations about how to do this?

Are you also able to respond to the other question about the fourth, missing, relay? Can you see a part number on it? I think it may be 821 951 253, an oxygen sensor relay. If it is, then what it does and what difference it would make to replace it are a little intriguing.

Hi Bob.

The wiper problem does seem to be your stalk. I have had this problem many times. You might just want to buy a new stalk although I have manged to repair mine.

As for the intensive headlamp wash, mine has never worked...

Does it work when you have the engine running, headlamps on, the intensive switch on & the screen washers via the stalk ?

Maybe ours doesn't work due to the stalk ! I would think it is possible.

Can anyone comment who's intensive works ?

Oh, I am using my 3.2 carrera for this discussion as I haven't had my 930 long and if it did have the intensive it is removed now.
