Hi guys

This is just a quiry at the moment, I have a 1977 2.7 911, but i have always wanted a 3.3, 930. I like the 2.7 and its quite quick for a thirthy one year old. however is the 930, 3.3 really a beast, what im trying to say is should i sell my 2.7 and get a 930, will i be disapointed. In my minds eye the 930 is a real beast which has one calling in life, and thats to put you into a tree as quickly as possilbe. Please dont misunderstand thats what i want(well not the tree part anyway), a real sence of driving when you are in total control of awsome power, with on driver aids. Is the 930 all hype! because if its only abit quicker than my 2.7 i think i will stick with it.

Thanks

Marc
and no im not a nutter[:D]

Sorry but any car will put you in a tree if you drive like a nutter .As for me I always wanted a late 80's 930 turbo black took me four years to fine a good one .I did not want to look back in ten years time and think why did I not push the boat out and get one .
I have one now and every mile is a smile, and when I got it if the car had not been what I thought I could have just sold it, but at least I would know for myself about the car .

Thanks, its not that i want to drive it like a nutter. But i would like to know how much better is it than what i have already have. I take your point about never looking back and saying "if only", but also some tines the grass isnt greener on the other side.

go for it. you won't regret it. i wouldn't go for any other 911 now. if i sold mine i would buy another one any day. they put a smile on your face every time you put your foot down. the power is awsome. take's a bit of getting used to the turbo lag but thats what makes you smile when it comes up on boost. it's like a big kick up the backside. its great. i love mine to bits

I use mine about once a month for a blow out and I still get the same rush as I did when I first bought it.

I think it will be safe to say that the difference will be very noticeable. Bloody heavy to drive slowly though and my left calf muscle has doubled in size!

Most people would always like a turbo if they are honest were about it where are you in the country ?.

I knew myself, if I had not got my one another non turbo would always be second best for me. You could always find one at a dealer go for a test drive see how much they would let you have on a PX maybe.

If you are concerned about the handling them make sure you get a 930 with an LSD, or have one fitted to yours. This makes the car more predictable when you lift off, much safer.

I have never driven a 2.7 but you can see I have a 3.2 911 and a 3.3 930. I am guessing that the 3.3 litres of the 930 compared to 2.7 helps to make up for the fact that the 930 is low compression. Compared to my 3.2 the throttle is not very sharp at all. But when the boost kicks in [:D].

My 930 is 5speed too. As suggested you should try one out.

Yep, as Nathan says, if you've always wanted a 911 turbo, then buying something isn't going to help!

As was mentioned in the Porsche Post recently, going from a 3.3 Turbo to a 3.2 Carrera is a bit disappointing. ("I kept waiting for a woosh that never came..")

I should just make sure that you get yourself a really good one. (I didn't and it's cost me everyday since! [])

But I should just try a few out. Look 'em up on Autotrader or something and go for a test drive at a local dealers.

I have a 993 C2S, but just added a Turbo (really not sure about nomenclature here.... 965? 964 Turbo 2? Or something else?). Anyhow, 5 speed 3.3, with LSD).... what a car!

There may be a 993 on the market soon....

Thanks Nathan.... BTW, although I am shown as "non-member", actually I am! Have put number on forum registration, so not sure why this is wrong....

Yeah, I suffer from exactly the same problem ('Non Member') - I reported it to the Administrator and she said that there's going to be a new release of the Web Site on the Horizon soon. (So she hopes this problem will be cleared up then.[8|])

I have had mine for three and a half years now, having previously had 3.2's and I never stop grinning when I'm out.Get the throttle right mid bend and hang on as your fired out of the bend.Go for it,you won't regret it.

Haha.. What colour is your 930?

Doing a 'Baron Von Richthoften' (Red Baron) impression, I've got countless BMW and Impreza 'kills' - oh, and one Silver '96 Ferrari, too.
