Apologies for asking a predictable question but how do running costs for a 930 compare with a similar age 911? There seems to be a general view that they are considerably more but is this true? Can anyone quantity (approx.) the order of magnitide?

Many thanks
James

I ran an a late 3 0 turbo for abt 10 years ,primarily every time a part number had areal or imaginary T for Turbo after it the prcei seemed to increase 2 or 3 fold...............but when u think abt it the brakes were drilled and ventilated,in 1978 quite special ,the clutch was 'stronger',totake extra power ,u dont have turbo waste gate pipes made out of strange metals ,[not very long and about £750 if u could find one !] for the othe models of that era;actual turbos were nt that expensive to replace...........................taking just these few bits plus heavy duty wheel bearings and so on it will cost more because there are more bits for plumbing and turbos plus loads of other bits need to eb 'heavy duty';serviced like any other Porsche and the reulting satisfaction at least the same plus all that turbo power................BUT IT WILL COST YOU !

I think the service intervals are 6000 miles for a 930 but 9000 for a normally aspirated 911. this can have quite an effect too

Hi James - I've been running a reasonably well sorted 930 for about 2 years now. I reckon it costs between £1500-£2000 to keep it on the road without insurance or petrol costs. The 964 I had previously was cheaper to run (30% less).
