930 Running Rough

Put the turbo away for winter in my warm garage, was running great before it went into hibernation, got it out for a mot today and thought good excuse for a run.

Starts easy but not good, does not want to run above 0.4 bar 3000 revs looses all power and blows black smoke also the tick over is now some 1800 rpm, I know the on board bar gauge can not be relied upon but seems to get up to 0.4 bar too quickly, seemed to clear for a few seconds but now seems permanent!

Any ideas? at least went through the mot!

In past for cars of this era , black smoke can mean cold start valve stuck on , breaking down
My 930 has had everything with starting other than that!
Good luck ......u know it ll be worth it when u get it running right ...................just been out in my 'Slope' with sunroof open ...............................

Sounds like an over fuelling issue, Is your waste gate closed at idle or slightly open bleeding off boost?
Perhaps your WUR is suck on cold start fuel as previous poster mentioned.
Air Meter plate stuck down not returning, When you switch on ignition are the fuel pumps continuously running? could try pushing down on the idle mixture tube to see if it moves and returns and pumps stop or if engine started idle increase and returns to idle.

Lots of variations perhaps vacuum issue as well.

Good hunting, my car is currently on jacks and will be for the next couple of months so let us know what you find just in case a few others here have a similar issue.

regards

TIM

Found it thanks to a phone call to Bob Watson, Relay for Fuel Pump No.2 Item G

Now running like a dream!

some change the fuses for those fuel relays, to modern 'blade' type , does nt need to be seen and take the heat generated much better then the oldies.......relays from Porsche cheap as chips if u have the urge to change ...........if u feel they re getting too hot
FWIW i did both , never looked back
Have fun

Funny to hear all you guys on about taking your 930s out for a spin after being in the garage all winter and then someone else commending you for using them the way they should be used... I suggest guys you use the cars all year round like I do - never give me any bother!!

My car is a daily drive in all weathers never let me down ,as I said let the car live as was intended.
As the adds say Its not just for the summer.

Mine has been a daily driver all year, but this year it has been on jacks mainly due to having to replace the headers. I must admit the extra amount of work i can do as i don't have to drive it is amazing, i have been able to pay more attention to it and do the jobs you just don't have time to do when its a daily driver. i hope we have a good summer so the targa roof can stay out.
So looking forward to driving it.
