930 Turbo PPI

dozzer

New member
Well I have finally found a very good 930.

PPI, compression and leak down tests hopefully Thurs/Fri next week. 89 car, 63k miles and Baltic Blue "" If all goes well "" mine in two weeks time and will post pics then. If any one has advice on good bad comp/leak down results please feel free. Wish me luck!!

Stupid question?
Why am I listed as a non member? I presume that means of the turbo forum as joined the club 6/8 weeks ago?

Dozzer,
If you are buying from a dealer, make sure that you put all the snags in writing, and ensure they are all done, and adviseable to get an inspection to check all done. I recently bought my Turbo from a certain dealer up North (and they have a car matching your description at the moment so may be the same people) who did not do what they promised and various 'bugs' have come to light after the delivery. He now doesn't want to know, despite advertising that they prepare all their cars thoroughly. Better to be strict in advance!

Thanks for the reply and advice. I am buying my car from Andrew at Gmund cars. It was Andrew that insisted on writing our agreement down which we completed yesterday. I have also met a number of his customers who were very satisfied with the cars, work done and outcome of there experience with him. I personally have been involved in the motor trade for many years. The PPI and subsequent tests will be my eventual benchmark but so far I could not be happier with the service I have received.

I purposefully didn't mention the dealer in question as in the case of disputes this can cause difficulties for the forum administrators and as recently was the case on another forum this dealer put pressure for the thread to be removed. I am sure that the vast majority of customer transactions go smoothly. Unfortunately mine did not, and it is in these rare cases that a trader's integrity can be measured, and other potential customers need to be warned.

Good luck.

I apologise in advance if the mention of the dealer I am using causes any difficulty to the administrators or anyone else for that matter.

I was only expressing my experience, so far with this particular company. I am sorry to here that your buying experience did not go well with whomever you purchased the vehicle from and thanks for your post.

Whilst it is important to ask a dealer to rectify some faults found on a PPI it is only fair to bear in mind that it is impossible to fix everything on a 17 year old car.We need to keep good dealers on their toes but also to accept they need to make a reasonable profit!

Dozzer,
I don't think there is a problem mentioning a dealer per se. Its just from experience if one criticises, or is in dispute then there can be forum issues. Therefore I can't necessarily mention them in public, although can in private, eg.pm. By coincidence we are talking about the same dealer! ...I didn't mention any names ;-)

Jonny boy,
Yes of course, obviously. However I am talking about something quite different. ie. PPI identified a fault. Said dealer agreed to put right. Delivered, fault not immediately apparent, when subsequently discovered dealer refuses to rectify. Ignores communications etc. Please note this is very difficult for me to go into detail on a public forum, rest assured it is as straightforward as I have outlined. Just be warned that there are some unethical people out there (and some even with apparently good reputations!).

There is a Baltic Blue 89 Turbo on Pistonheads with 67000 miles. (not mine)

I can't see a dealer complaining about someone praising them.
In this country we are all entitled to our opinion and we are allowed to let it be known.

Cheers,
