My first Porsche was a 944 lux. 2.5 litre - so not as quick as many a modern car! Got severely burnt off by a Civic Type R a month after I bought it - ruined my day! Main reason I swopped it was no vertical adjustment of driving seat - and herself likes to drive with her rear end near the roof! However, the lux was an enjoyable drive. Worth looking at an S2 (not an S 16V job, no bottom end in that engine) as the extra goodies of 2990cc's etc might tempt you. In time you'll be tempted to spend a little more for a 968 - and high mileage well looked after ones are not that much more expensive!! Kept my lux for about 18 months, the 944S 16V for about the same, then the 968 coupe for 12 1/2 years - until 3 years ago I swopped it for a 968 cab!!

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum and am looking to buy a 944. I am looking at buying one in Sussex and would be wondering if any enthusiasts would be up for going to look at one for me? Obviously in exchange for money! If anyone is interested please get in touch

The one I am looking at is seen here. http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C510830#
Thanks everyone,

Looking forward to getting involved with the forum.

Hi, Thanks for your response. I am 20 years old and porsche enthusiast, which makes getting insurance on the bigger engines hard. I think i will proably do somthing simillar to what you've done and work my way up. Thanks for your respone, I appreciate it. Shaun McSorley

Will the car be your daily drive? Will you be wanting to show the car at classic car shows? What is the millage on this car? Have the sills been replaced? You really need to check for any rust as by the sounds of things this car has been outside not garage kept. When were the belts last changed? Amanda

Hi Amanda, The car will not be my daily drive and just be used occasionally. It would be nice to get it to a good enough level to be able to take it too clasic car shows yes, but i know i would have to spend money to get it looking mint. The mileage of the car is 185,000 and the sills have not been replaced, Only repaired. I live in Manchester so was wondering if someone with a good knowledge and experince could have a look at the car for me and give an honest opinion in exchange for money. Many thanks Shaun McSorley
