944 at auction

Hi
I have a 86 944 Turbo and need some spares - have just noticed there is an 88 944S at my local auctions with 223k on the clock, so hoping it will go cheap and maybe I can source some spares from it, but can anyone tell which of these parts I will be able to transfer to the turbo?

Engine Mounts
Idle Stabilsation Valve
Mirror Motors
Indicator Stalk
Brake Calipers
Roll bar bushes
Rear Axle Mounts
Fuel tank strap
Struts
Maybe wheels

Sorry for the long post - i havent seen the car yet so dont know about the condition of any of these parts, just need an idea of whether I'm wasting my time using it for spares?

Cheers
Matt

Much of that will come across. Taking things in turn:

Not sure about engine mounts, but I think they are the same. I have some spare '90 Turbo engine mounts available from my car if you want.
ISV I think will be Turbo specific. Again I have one spare from my car.
Mirror motors are the same for sure
Indicator stalk is the same provided both cars have headlamp wash - it's the entire stalk assembly though, not just the indicator one.
Brake callipers will be different (I'm pretty sure)
ARB bushes probably different as the bars are probably different sizes. Do you really want to fit used bushes anyway?
Rear axle mounts will almost certainly be falling apart on the S, though I believe they are the same.
Fule tank strap I would expect to be the same
Struts will be different as your car falls in the very narrow band of production where the front arms are alloy but to suit the pre-'87 change to ABS offset
Wheels will be for the later ABS offset so will not only be narrower but will be the wrong offset.

Bottom line I'd not bother with the S personally, although if it has some good parts and you have the space and time to break it you might actually get what you can use for free and even make some money on what you don't need.

Thanks for that Fen

It went for £750 in the end so didnt bother, reasonable condition but 223k on the clock.

I would gladly take you up on the offer of the engine mounts though - how much do you want for them?

Think I will try cleaning out the ISV to see if that helps the poor idle.

Cheers again
Matt

I'm off to see my indy today to pick up some other bits that are going to end up on a 968 Turbo S replica so I'll check with him he still thinks they are good (they were 5,000 miles/1 year ago or they would have been replaced) and what he thinks they are worth as I don't really know.
