944 at the 'ring on PC ?

I am kind of aware of a few PC games which have the 'ring as a driveable track. I am also aware that several games can be 'modded' to allow customised cars designed outside the games original program to be added.

Does anyone know of a game for the PC where we can drive the nurburgring in a 944? or something of similar size/power/handling? 350Z maybe?

Gareth

Don't know about the PC but GT4 on the PS2 models the ring well enough that it was useful practice for the real one [:D] 350Z has 300 odd bhp so you might be being a bit optimistic with that as a comparison. GT4 has a 2nd gen RX-7 with 200ish bhp and 1300ish kg which seemed to drive much the same as an S2 once you'd mucked around with tyre choice a bit..

Also not PC but XBox 360 has Forza Motorsport 2. The ring is one of the tracks and the 944 Turbo one of the cars... [:D]

Oh, and the cars can be modified extensively, so you can "try before you buy" (if you believe that these games have any relationship to the real world).

I've never bought Forza 2 (prefer PGR4 myself) "¦ but if you can drive the 944 Turbo in it, looks like I'll need to pick up a second-hand copy after all.

Ta for that.

Hmm, would it let you create a 3.2 turbo monster like Pauls though? Sounds like my resistance to buying a new console might be weakening....[8|]

on the PCs, the ones i was on about were GTR2 and Rfactor - any experience on them?

Oh and its not a 'try before you buy', more a 'drive before i arrive'

Yep, and you can paint it the original Porsche colours too, so you can match what's on your drive. Proper tail-happy bastard it is too.....

Yep, mine is fully upgraded in 997 GT3 RSesque shocking green with black accessories. A real giant killer!

As luck would have it, I spotted Forza 2 for a tenner on my lunch break. Wandered home and got as far as replicating my girlfriend's Mini (down to the bonnet stripes!) before it was time to head back to work. Looks like I'm going to have to play it tonight when I get back from the TIPEC Scotland monthly meeting "¦ see if I can earn enough virtual cash to buy the 944!

I used to race in an online championship using both those sims and they do have an accurate rendition of the Ring available. They are both a bit arcadey for my liking and not realistic enough. Try GP Legends or GT Legends, they also have copies of the Nurburgring available for download and the cars are a lot more realistic to drive (ie they're difficult). I bought GP Legends myself to learn the ring and because it is so hard to drive the cars it quickly taught me the dangerous places on the circuit.

Sadly [8|] I have an incar video of myself on the Ring and back I could just about keep up with myself when using the trainer cars on GP Legends

Really funny that Forza 2 came up,just bought an Xbox360 arcade (for my son of course!) and it came as part of the bundle, spent last night racing my freind he had a 996 GT3 and me in a 944 turbo, i was really suprised how upset i got when i damaged the car and how much the non original wheels offended me[:D]

Well, I haven't managed to "˜earn' the 944 yrt, but I'm nearly there. In the meantime I've found myself the proud virtual owner of a 914/6 in Gulf livery. Which is lovely until I enter it in a mid-engined championship and get left for dead by the assorted Lotuses and Toyotas.

If you fully mod you 914/6 it becomes nearly undriveable, brilliant fun particularly if charging round entire circuits including the straights sideways is your thing!

It took me a week, but I finally bought the in-game 944 today. I think I've got it looking as close as possible to my real car "¦ wrong alloys and I can't tint the lights or repeaters, but otherwise it's looking spot on.
