Hi All
I have a 1986 944 Auto that rattles from the housing between the Torque Tube and the Engine only on tickover .Any clues to the cause would be greatly appriciated.
Many Thanks

J.C.

It sounds as if you have a disintegrated rubber connection plate (can't remember the correct name). The Achilles' Heel of the 944 Auto. Expensive part to buy but false economy to buy a second hand one - rubber deteriates over time so mileage isn't the issue.
Contact someone like Porshapart (Simon Butterworth), should be able to give you a price.

Cheers,

Hi Fred,
Thanks for your reply to my question, sounds about right,i will take your advice and contact Porcheapart.
Thanks again,
John.

100% say its the Damper that does between the torque tube and the flywheel, I know only too well what happens to them! A new one will set you back approx. £900 and sadly I'm not joking.

I suspect it goes away when you drive, although Fred is right, I have to say that there are still cars out there with ones that are in very good condition, I was lucky as I was in a position to wait when I needed to do mine and I was able to pick up the one below for £150 2nd hand.

Good one and a Bad one!!!
