Just out of interest, what miles per gallon do you guys tend to find you get out of your 944?

Just curious.

Please state, model, year and how many miles it has on the clock.

1990 S2 172,000 miles

On a long run it will do low 30's, around town about 20

1989 Turbo 122,000 miles

1 or 2 mpg less than the S2 when it was standard

1991 S2 80,000 miles - 24mpg last time I measured it (a few years ago now).

Never actually measured it in the Lux [:)]

Jim.

My 1987 turbo was getting around 26mpg but since i've installed the Promax Level 2 kit i'm getting a few mpg less (about 30 miles per tank less on average). On a recent long motorway run going at a constant speed, which i'm not going to divulge here, I got 410 miles out of the tank which equates to about 28 - 29mpg so if I was cruising at a slower speed I reckon 30 mpg could be cracked no bother. The handbook states 44mpg at a steady 56 mph which feels entirely possible to me.

My run to and from work kills my fuel economy as it's twisty country roads so it's lots of gear changing and when the conditions are good alot of quick squirts of the throttle followed by braking, so on balance 24 - 26mpg is pretty good I think.

EDIT: By the way i've got 113500, on the clock and it's a 220 turbo, standard apart from the level 2 kit running 1.05 bar max boost.

1989 S2, getting around 300 miles to a tank (although I think I am not filling it fully.)

Last time I calculated it, it was around 25mpg (almost all town driving). I have literally just put a small book in the car so I can record all fill-ups and an accurate MPG. (FWIW, I fill it up less than once a month, as my milage is so low.)

Oli.

1990 S2 / 115k miles : 28 mpg

1990 turbo / 155k miles : between 28 mpg (off boost) and 14 mpg (normal driving). Guru Racing V7 "18 PSI" chipset.

80,000miles on a 250 turbo 33mpg on a tank of combined driving (half motoway) not alot of heavy footing but not driving slowly either.

16mpg on a return trip from Bournmouth once (A34/A43 lots of roundabouts) very heavy footed driving so was actually very pleased with this figure.

Never less than 30 mpg on a full tank, which is better than the 2004 two litre Subaru??

1986 2.5, 127K, not exactly gently driven due to the incredible grip from the P6000's [;)]

91k 2.5 16v.
11mpg in town, and between 32 and 34mpg on the motorway if I can be bother to take it out of 3rd. which I can't anymore so I have stopped calculating mpg and stated enjoying decent acceleration.

Commuting in Edinburgh it was between 2.5miles per litre and 3 miles per litre. 30 litres equated to 90 city miles at best.

On a recent 250 mile trip round north wales, with a mixture of fast dual carriageway driving and then slow / fast acceleration / overtaking over the welsh mountain roads I returned 23.8mpg.

My car has Promax Level 2 Kit fitted and 132,000 miles on the clock.

1986 2.5 lux, 103000 miles. mid to high 20s on short/town trips, 30+ or so on a run depending on quantity of lead in right foot. Car runs exclusively on optimax / V-Power. not quite managed 400 miles on a tankfull but don't like running it too low on fuel.

1989 S2, 227k miles, approx. 31 mpg, mostly M25 so mixture of crusing at a traffic constrained 60mph, or about 10mph when it's bad.

Well, here's where I get nerdy! [8|]

I've kept a database of all my petrol purchases since I got the car.

Model: 944S2 Cabriolet
Year: 1990
Mileage: 117226

Since I bought it last May, I have covered 2439.8 miles, and fed it 441.72 litres of Morrison's finest, this equates to 97.164773 gallons (roughly!) which is 25.11 miles per gallon.

The best I ever managed so far is 28.66mpg over 236.7 miles, my worst (but most fun) was 21.28 over 188.5 miles.

I really should get out more.
