944 & Baby Car Seats - a goer or not?

Newbie alert....am thinking of purchasing a 944 but need to know if I can get a child car seat (stage 1) in the back seats...I know I'll need to get a 3 point seat belt fitted and I'm guessing that this is quite a straightforward thing to do.

Any advice for a girlie would be greatly appreciated![:)]

Rear belt is 3-point as standard (at least on later cars).

Never tried a stage1 car seat in there however (even the four year old objects to being squeezed into one now [;)]

Hello there Vicki, and welcome to the forum - looks for smooth smiley to follow comment and can't find one.

Post 86 944's all had three point rear seat belts but they can be fitted to earlier (non oval dash) models if required.

Fitting the seat in the front isn't an issue, it's perhaps better than some cars as there are no air bags to dissable. A stage one seat in the back may be a problem requiring carefull selection. The rear seats are quite narrow and quite deep, from memory they were fine for Peter from 4 years onwards without a seat, but you would need a narrow moulded seat rather than a tubular framed seat for a very small child perhaps. I can't see that the back seats of a 944 are any worse than those in a 996, so I have little doubt you should be able to find a seat that fits.

Our local authority ran a seat trialing facillity so you could take your car along and put in sundry approved seats and see which one fitted best. Well worth doing as we ended up buying a different seat to the one we thought as our original choice didn't prove to be as stable.

Thanks for the quick replies, much appreciated.

I guess my best bet will be to go somewhere that stocks a HUGE range of seats and try some then? I don't have a problem with him sitting in the front with me, but husband may have a problem with being squashed into the back!

Stage 1 seats? Is this another mod I need to make to the track car to make it go faster?
