944 badge question

Does anyone know what different designs of rear badges were fitted to Non turbo cars? I've seen;

A. 3D script reading '944'
B. flat sticker with outline text shape of '944'
C. flat sticker with a solid text reading '944'
D. thin '944' text on S2 models

I'd like to know if there is a 'correct' badge or if different designs were used on different years?

Cheers, Sonny

"A" is the correct one for an 8-valve car, top decal in Scotty's post is the style. Cheap as chips for genuine from a PC, or decals from Rick's shop

Yep, the 3D plastic "˜944' text you mentioned as option A is the standard from a regular 944. Either black or silver depending on the car's paint colour.

As far as I know only the preproduction prototype and the short run 944S had decals instead of 3D plastic when they left the factory.

The pre-pro ones had numbers 9, 4 and 4 cut from two sets of 924 decals. Very un-Porsche-like behaviour! [&:]

when I replaced my silver hard plastic one with a black hard plastic one there was a slight difference in size.

Actually most porsche like - we were told on a factory tour that when Peugeot complained about the 901 infringing their naming rights (they had rights on numbers with zero in the centre) they cut up the spare badge to make 911
